The Dominican Day Parade may be one week away, but the excitement kicked off on Friday at a press conference that announced the 2021 schedule.
Organizers of the parade kept their spirits high while talking about next Sunday, which due to COVID-19 restrictions, will still be partially virtual.
However, they say this year will be better than ever. The theme will be “Moving Forward,” and the event will be held on Aug. 8 with an online parade at noon.
An hour later, New Yorkers will be able to attend an in-person cultural presentation on Sixth Avenue.
While the event is open to the public, attendees are asked to both pre-register online and wear masks.
The parade hasn’t been fully in-person since 2019. New Yorkers say they hope that come 2022, all celebrations can be held in person.
