Donors flood $1.9 million into Daniel Penny defense fund following manslaughter charge

A West Islip Marine veteran charged with manslaughter in the choking death of a subway rider is now getting financial support from thousands of donors online.
A legal defense fund started by Daniel Penny's lawyer has now raised over $1.9 million. There have been more than 40,000 donors.
According to the page, the funds are being raised to pay legal fees and any expenses related to his defense.
As News 12 has reported, Penny turned himself in on Friday in Manhattan.
Penny was released on $100,000 bond.

Neely died hours later.
Penny is due back in court in July.
