Downtown Brooklyn is getting a $40 million makeover after Mayor Eric Adams announced a multiagency new project.

The goal is to transform the busy commercial area into a pedestrian friendly zone.

Officials are planning on improving the Fulton streetscape with the help from the New York City Parks Department. They're adding more trees and seating areas making it more appealing to people that live in the neighborhood.

The Department of Transportation and other agencies are changing five intersections along Flatbush Avenue between Livingston and Pacific streets to focus on pedestrian safety.

Some people News 12 spoke to say this could make traffic even worse.
