Toys for Hospitalized Children is doing even more to give children in hospitals smiles by opening up its Happy Shop.

JJ Hecht spent his Tuesday morning giving gifts to children at Maimonides Medical Center.

"Our goal is to bring happiness to the children over here because we believe happy kids heal faster," said Hecht.

Hecht and volunteers made their way through the hospital - except instead of a cart full of pre-selected toys, children can now order something they like!

The Happy Shop gives kids a card with a QR code on it that they can scan. It takes them to the shop website and the kids can select from a variety of toys.

"Children have very little control when they're in the hospital. If they're able to actually have a choice in the toy that they're selecting, it just makes our life easier," says Lenia Batas, director of patient and family support at Maimonides.
