NYPD: Woman fatally hit by car on Belt Parkway in Sheepshead Bay

A woman is dead after she was fatally struck by a car Monday while she was crossing the road on the Belt Parkway, police say.
According to the NYPD, the incident happened near the Knapp Street exit in Sheepshead Bay at around 9:20 p.m.
Police responded to the scene and discovered the 40-year-old woman in the roadway with severe body trauma.
She was taken to a hospital where she later died.
Investigators say the driver did remain on the scene and there are no arrests at this time.
