Democratic City Council Member Justin Brannan has beat Republican City Council Member Ari Kagan in the race for the City Council seat in District 47.

Both Brannan and Kagan were active members of the City Council coming into this race. The 47th District seat is in a newly redrawn district in the southern part of Brooklyn.

News 12's Mary-Lyn Buckley was with the Brannan campaign at The Brooklyn Firefly as they celebrate.
