Thousands of people from all over the world make their way to the Big Apple this time of year, not only for the holidays but for the famous New Year's Eve ball drop in Times Square.
This year's theme is a bowtie crystal ball!
"Time Square was known as a bow tie back in the day. From an aerial view, it's two triangles coming together in a shape of a bow tie. We now have that same bow tie on the ball itself," said Countdown Entertainment President and co-organizer of New Year's Eve Jeffrey Straus.
What happens in Vegas, apparently doesn't stay there. This year's design and special pattern was created in partnership with Fontainebleau Las Vegas and for the first time, the ball will be re-lit after the countdown.
"To imagine that New York and Las Vegas have something in common for the first time this year here in Times Square is just really great," said designer and brand executive Peter Arnell.
This year's ball has 2,688 crystal triangles and weighs nearly six tons.
If you thought it couldn't get any more legendary, think again!
Singer and songwriter Paul Anka is set to be one of the special guests to lead this year's countdown.
