Sources say a Rikers Island detainee hijacked a corrections department bus Wednesday morning in an attempt to escape.

Sources say a Rikers Island detainee hijacked a corrections department bus Wednesday morning in an attempt to escape.
Department of Correction sources say the suspect was on the bus with eight other detainees when he managed to get control of the wheel, put the bus in reverse and damage a parked car.
No injuries were reported. The officer in charge has been suspended.
