Eid al-Fitr marks the end of the Islamic holy month of Ramadan. The holiday is being celebrated by Muslims worldwide and by many in New Jersey.

The commencement of Eid is marked by prayer service at dawn's first light, which is succeeded by a concise sermon. The greeting that resonates most during this festive time is "Eid Mubarak," meaning "Blessed Eid" or "Eid sa'id," translating to "Happy Eid."

Many public schools in the state were closed on Wednesday for the Muslim holiday.
