Diocese of Brooklyn: 3 Catholic academies to close at the end of the school year

The Diocese of Brooklyn announced three Catholic academies, two in Brooklyn and one in Queens, will permanently close at the end of the school year.
The schools included are Salve Regina Catholic Academy in East New York, St. Catherine of Genoa - St. Therese of Lisieux in Flatbush and St. Matthias Catholic Academy in the Ridgewood section of Queens.
Officials say the decision to close the schools was based on "unsustainable trends in enrollment and finances over the last five years."
