Hundreds of Clinton Hill residents demanded the Adams administration take action to the current migrant situation at a Town Hall meeting on Monday night.

Community members told News 12 that they've had more negative experiences than positive ones since migrants arrived at 47 Hill St.

“We weren’t asked about it. We weren’t communicated to about it. We weren’t told with the ramifications of that would be at all," said Monique, a Hill Street resident.

Other neighbors say asylum seekers are suffering in their current living conditions.

“I’ve talked to the asylum seekers. They say ‘es como un carcel’, ‘it’s like a jail.’ They say ‘ no podamos duchar’, ‘there’s not enough bathrooms, we can’t shower’," said Alia McKee, Hall Street Block Association member. "Right now, the community is getting no extra resources to 4,000 additional people.”

The general consensus of the meeting is that the community wants everyone to live safely.

“We are ground zero of the city’s mismanagement of the migrant crisis, and we need to demand better," McKee added.

Residents told News 12 they plan to speak out until their elected officials bring change.

News 12 reached out to the mayor's office for comment but has not heard back as of Monday night.
