Kids of all ages got the chance to show off their Caribbean pride in Crown Heights at the 12th annual Youth Pan Festival on Saturday.

The event featured traditional Caribbean and West Indian dancing, and of course, steel pan performers.

The event saw both individuals and bands battling it out to see who could put on the best performance for the crowd of their peers and the community.

The Carlos Lezama Archives and Caribbean Culture Center hosted the event as a way to connect the youth with their culture. This is something participants say they love to do as they perform on the steel pan.

"It's amazing being here, feeling the rhythm, the bass. I'm listening [to] all the other instruments and I'm performing on the pan. I feel a part of this, seeing the bass, the front line -- it’s amazing," said 14-year-old Kyle Bailey.

CLACC-C said they are thrilled with turnout and are already working on the annual Labor Day eruption steel orchestra event.
