The G Line fully reopened to riders Tuesday morning after nine weeks.

“Our 160,000 customers that ride the G line we want to thank you for your patience," said Demetrius Crichlow, the NYC Transitn

The Brooklyn-Queens crosstown line was partially suspended beginning on June 28 for repairs work. The MTA also installed new tracks, switches and signals to the nearly 100-year-old line. This work is just the beginning of a massive modernization project.

“The main point of what we were scheduled to do was to provide better service," Crichlow said. "This project gave us the opportunity to tee us up for the work that is coming.”

The MTA says there will be additional shutdowns on the nights and weekends to finish with repairs to the line.

The total project is expected to be complete by 2027.
