Marine Park in Brooklyn was filled with solemn reflection Wednesday as the community gathered to mark the 23rd anniversary of the Sept. 11 attacks.

Hundreds attended a ceremony honoring the nearly 3,000 lives lost, with a large American flag serving as a backdrop to the event.

Many were families and first responders who continue to grapple with the memories of that tragic day. Retired FDNY Capt. Marianne Monahan, present at the ceremony, emphasized the enduring impact of 9/11.

“It’s crystal clear today as it was 23 years ago to remember every single moment of that day,” Monahan said.

The Marine Park event was one of several held across Brooklyn to commemorate the fallen heroes and the lives lost.

Residents reflected on the lasting impact of the attacks, reaffirming their commitment to remembrance and unity.
