9/11 'mastermind' one step closer to being spared death penalty if plea deal accepted by gov't, judge

Khalid Shekh Mohammed, otherwise known as the "mastermind" behind the Sept. 11, 2001 terrorist attacks, and his two co-defendants may no longer face the death penalty.

News12 spoke to 9/11 first responder and former FDNY Deputy Chief Richard Alles, who said this ruling by the judge is "unconscionable."
