A dispute escalated into a subway station stabbing Friday night in Crown Heights.

Police say a 19-year-old and an unidentified suspect got into a verbal argument inside the station around 10 p.m. As they were walking up the stairs and out of the station, the suspect took an unknown object and slashed the victim in the neck.

The victim ran back into the station to alert police. He was then taken to the hospital where police say he is in stable condition.

No arrests have been made.

This is the third recent stabbing incident in the borough to happen on or near the subway. In October, News 12 reported on a 17-year-old who was stabbed in Bed-Stuy on the subway platform and a 53-year-old who was fatally stabbed in Coney Island.

Despite the recent stabbings, the NYPD reports that major crime in subway stations is actually down this year compared to last. In October, there were 168 reported incidents, in 2023 there were 228.
