A fire may have destroyed City Chemist on Graham Avenue, but owner Robert Mattera refuses to let his customers go without their prescriptions.

The Jan. 25 fire tore through the pharmacy Mattera has owned for decades, leaving him without a storefront.

Despite the loss, he continues filling prescriptions at a City Chemist pharmacy location in Long Island City, then delivering medications to about 20 different spots daily in Williamsburg.

Local businesses have stepped in to help, with a podiatrist’s office at 405 Graham Ave. and Tony’s Pizza serving as temporary pickup locations for prescriptions.

Meanwhile, Mattera is working to lease a new space just a few blocks away, determined to rebuild and continue serving the community he has been part of for years.

Telehealth provider Well Revolution always provides free doctor visits and is now waving their $50 prescription fee for the City Chemist Williamsburg patients.
