The skating season at Prospect Park’s LeFrak Center is coming to an end, but visitors can expect big changes next year.

The new operators are set to take over, bringing facility upgrades and expanded programming.

Starting in May, the center will begin improvements, including upgrades to restrooms, lockers and the outdoor area.

Some skaters have also called for healthier food options, senior discounts and free lockers.

“This more than a transformation, said Andrew Frey, the center’s new director. “It's really just an enhancement of the things that are going on now.”

The Prospect Park Alliance also plans to bring in a local food vendor and expand programming to better serve the community. Officials say the new operators will be announced in the coming weeks.
