The MTA and DOT are planning to add a new priority bus lane on Marcy Avenue between Broadway and Borinquen Place in Williamsburg to reduce congestion for nearly 30,000 daily riders.

Under the proposal, the stretch would be redesigned to include a parking lane on the left, a dedicated bus lane in the middle and a car lane on the right.

Officials are also planning to widen the corner of Marcy Avenue and Broadway to make it easier for buses to turn.

Some residents say the changes could help speed up commutes and keep traffic moving, while others worry the street is too narrow and fear it could create new problems for drivers.

The MTA says the redesign is expected to improve travel times for thousands of bus riders who pass through the area each day.

Transit officials also say they’ll incorporate community feedback before finalizing the plan and deciding next steps.

Here's the Proposal.
