Woman violently robbed in Bed-Stuy

Police say a man has been arrested for fatally striking a woman at the Gateway Center parking lot in East New York.

Zachary Cando, 24, drove into 21-year-old Madison Ruiz while she was sitting on the curb just after midnight Sunday, according to authorities.

News 12 has been told Ruiz was rushed to a hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

Cando is facing a number of charges, including criminally negligent homicide, reckless endangerment and reckless driving.
