A high-end athletic wear store in Dumbo was hit by robbers two days in a row earlier in July, and the NYPD says the employees were threatened in both incidents.

The NYPD confirms that on Wednesday, July 9, around 3:20 p.m., a man walked into Alo Yoga on Front Street, grabbed six shirts worth about $380, threatened two employees and then left.

Just 24 hours later, on Thursday, July 10, police say that three people entered the same store and made off with thousands more in merchandise: leggings, underwear, shorts and shirts, totaling to an estimated $6,300.

According to police, a 25-year-old female employee tried to stop them, and one of the suspects threatened to harm her before all three ran away.

No injuries were reported in either case.

Customers in the area say these kinds of thefts put workers in a tough spot.

“You kind of have to back off the best that you can,” said Katie, a former retail employee. “Some people try to defend, but I’m like, it’s not really worth it if something happens to you.”

The Alo Yoga store opened earlier this spring.

News 12 has reached out to the company multiple times for comment but has not heard back.
