The NYPD says a woman was pulled from the water at Manhattan Beach and later died.

Police say it happened just before 6:15 p.m. when lifeguards say they pulled a woman who appeared to be in her late 50's out of the water, unconscious and unresponsive.

They say she was taken to Coney Island Hospital where she later died.

Police did not confirm if it was a drowning and say the chief medical examiner is working to determine a cause of death.
