A storm moving through Brooklyn Wednesday evening knocked out power for residents in Flatbush after live wires came down.

The outage was reported around 7:08 p.m. near 4022 Avenue J, where FDNY crews responded to reports of a transformer and wires on fire.

The flames were extinguished within minutes, and no injuries were reported.

Con Edison says the outage is weather-related and is urging residents to stay away from any downed wires, which could still be live.

Flatbush resident Amara McCroy says the outage has made an already hot night even more uncomfortable.

“It’s really hot in my house and I have asthma so we have been hanging out outside so that the heat does not affect us,” McCroy said. “For most people, it’s extra hot inside the house and you just have to stay outside and enjoy the breeze that we have.”

Repairs are expected to be completed by about 2:30 a.m. Thursday.
