Traffic on the Belt Parkway and other city roadways is moving smoother as the busy Labor Day weekend comes to an end.

AAA had warned that the worst time to travel would be between 1 p.m. and 4 p.m. Monday.

By the evening, conditions had eased for drivers heading out of the city.

Many driver stopped at gas stations near Flatlands and Pennsylvania avenues in East New York before making their way onto the parkway.

One driver shared her tips for surviving bumper-to-bumper traffic.

"Make sure you have water. Make sure you have something to snack on. Make sure you got gas and get good music. You have to have road music." Kim Poole told News 12.

AAA reminds drivers to double-check their vehicles before hitting the road.

The agency says it responds to more than 380,000 calls during the Labor Day holiday weekend, mostly for dead batteries and flat tires.
