Firefighters rushed to an auto shop on Coney Island Avenue Monday evening after flames sparked inside the building.

The fire started just after 7 p.m. in the rear of Coney Island Auto Glass and Repair, according to the FDNY. Crews say about 60 firefighters and EMS workers responded with 12 units. They had the flames under control in just over 30 minutes.

No one was hurt, but the cause is still under investigation. By Tuesday morning, the smell of smoke lingered in the air, though a brand-new gate now covered the storefront, making it hard to see any visible damage.

What makes this fire stand out is where it happened — the shop sits right next to Rite Touch Auto Center, which went up in flames less than a month ago. That blaze broke out Aug. 28 and left the building gutted, with a full vacate order still posted on its boarded doors.

Two neighboring auto shops, two fires in less than a month. One remains shut down, while the other is now starting the cleanup process.
