Flies, mold, and no hot water for nearly a month. It's what tenants at an apartment on Lott Avenue say they've been dealing with in their home.

Residents Dwayne Cann says between the mold in his bathroom and the cold water, he's worried about his children's safety.

“You have to worry about your kids getting sick in their own home. It’s terrible. I want to move. I don't want to be here. It's dangerous," said Cann.

Despite complaints and visits, Cann says nothing has changed.

“It seems like every time we complain, they don't do anything," said Cann.

Tenants Ralph Harrell says he went there from a shelter, hoping the living conditions would be better.

"It's worse," said Harrell.

Harrell says flies and no hot water are just some of the issues he deals with.

"They're on me and it's irritating because sometimes when I sleep I hear them buzzing in my ear. I don't have time to go back to a shelter. I bust by behind to get this apartment," said Harrell.

A spokesperson for Housing Preservation and Development tells News 12 it has issued multiple violations in this building for lack of hot water and heat.

Wavecrest Management claims 32 of the 204 units are partially without hot water.

However, it said hot water will be restored as soon as Wednesday evening. It also said the outstanding mold violations will be fixed by the end of the week.
