NYC schools will open Tuesday after a day of remote learning
School will be in-person for New York City students on Tuesday, the mayor and chancellor said.

NYC public schools will be in-person on Tuesday, Mayor Zohran Mamdani and NYC Schools Chancellor Kamar Samuels said at City Hall early Monday.
Over 400,000 parents, students and staff logged in to their online learning platforms Monday morning, according to the mayor.
"I'd say we have about 333 students that are participating, and that number is still growing. That's still about 85% of our school," said Bronx Principal Daisy Joy-Rodrigo.
The principal at Px11: The Highbridge School said teachers and students were set up with Google classrooms at the start of the school year. They said that more than 300 laptops were distributed to families over the last few days, but the first remote learning day of the year also included some issues.
"There was a brief period where it would just say, error or refresh again. And that's exactly what I did until I was able to get on," she said.
The chancellor and mayor visited a classroom remotely Monday morning. The mayor says that he took this opportunity to reiterate that students could pelt him with snowballs in turn for the remote learning day.
During the question and answer session after the press conference, the mayor says that no children have thrown any snowballs at him yet, but that the day is still early.
In a release the mayor's team shared with News 12 more information on the attendance from Monday's remote learning day, "preliminary data show that nearly 375,000 students and parents – nearly 80% of expected students -- successfully logged into virtual classrooms, supported by more than 125,000 educators."
