Police are investigating a home invasion robbery that left a 31-year-old man injured early Wednesday morning.

Authorities say around 1:35 a.m., neighbors called 911 reporting an assault near East 13th Street and Avenue P.

When officers arrived, they found a man who had been struck in the head after multiple people forced their way into the residence and took items from the home.

Residents in the area say they are shaken by the incident, describing the neighborhood as typically quiet. One neighbor who did not want to appear on camera says the victim is a friendly and quiet person they see most mornings, and they were shocked to hear what happened.

Police say the victim was transported to Maimonides Medical Center and is currently in stable condition.
