Shmira Public Safety tells News 12 it's stepping up patrols following a home break-in and stolen car in Sheepshead Bay on Monday - and a similar incident in Gravesend on Wednesday.

Police confirm that a home on East 9th Street in Sheepshead Bay was broken into and a car was stolen around 2 a.m. on Monday.

Days later and a few blocks away, police say two people entered a home in Gravesend early Wednesday morning and stole two car keys.

Police say it happened around 3:40 a.m. on East Fourth Street in Gravesend.

Levi Leifer, director for Shmira Public Safety, says Shmira was on the scene instantly.

“The alarm for the car went off we showed up in literally seconds because we were already on patrol," said Leifer.
Police say the suspects did not make off with any stolen cars.

Police say there was a 57-year-old man inside the home at the time but that the suspects didn’t make contact with him and that there were no injuries.

Police say the people they are looking for drove off in a black Audi Hatchback.

“At this time, we can’t identify that it's the same individuals at this time. However, we do think it's a pattern and might be part of the same group," said Leifer.

Leifer says people can do their part by locking their cars and homes, and if they see something, say something.

“If something stands out, like I said, it's a very residential neighborhood with families. And at three in the morning, usually people don't walk the streets," said Leifer.
