A baby girl in a stroller was killed by a stray bullet during a shooting in Bushwick on Wednesday afternoon, authorities say.

The baby, identified as 7-month-old Kaori Patterson-Moore, was struck around 1:20 p.m. after the rear passenger of a moped fired two rounds on the corner of Moore and Humboldt streets, where multiple children and adults were standing.

Police say the moped passenger matches the description of the shooter and is in custody. They say he is known to be a "gang associate" from the NYCHA Marcy Houses. The driver remains on the run, and a "massive NYPD manhunt" is underway, NYPD Commissioner Jessica Tisch says.

Heavy NYPD and FDNY presence overtook the intersection, just steps away from a day care.

A nearby worker, Abdo Alzkokari, says the baby's mother ran into his store after the gunfire. She looked down at her child and made a horrifying discovery.

"When she looked to the stroller and saw the baby bleeding, she went crazy and left. Bullet in the head, and a lot of milk in his mouth," said Alzkokari.

A witness called the News 12 newsroom minutes after the shooting and said they saw an argument unfold, and minutes later, a person running with the stroller moments later, shouting, "My baby! My baby!"

Authorities say the baby's father ran her five blocks to NYC Health + Hospitals/Woodhull. The baby did not survive.

The man on the run was last seen moving toward the NYCHA Marcy Houses wearing gray pants, a white t-shirt and a black surgical mask.

An NYPD Crime Stoppers van at 131 Moore St. projected images of the suspected gunmen on a moped. It says authorities are offering up to $3,500 for information regarding the fatal shooting.

Exclusive video shows the suspects on the moped crashing into an oncoming car, sending the suspects flying near Siegel Street and Manhattan Avenue while fleeing the scene.

The rear passenger hit the pavement so hard his shoes flew off.

Police presence, evidence bags, scattered car parts, and police tape could be seen there.

Authorities received a 911 call after the crash for an injured man. He was taken to the hospital and placed in custody for a separate incident, a domestic violence-related robbery. He has not officially been charged for the shooting as of Wednesday evening.

Police say the moped was recovered five blocks west of the shooting, at Warsaw Place and Flushing Avenue, and has been secured for processing by its Crime Scene Unit.

Authorities are working to figure out who was the intended target of the shooting, according to Tisch.

The shooting comes less than a week after a 9-year-old boy was shot in Brownsville.

During a press conference on Wednesday evening, Mayor Zohran Mamdani emphasized the gravity of the incident, stating, "We cannot accept this as normal in our city."

The mayor sent his condolences to the baby's family.

"There are no words that can mend the heartbreak this family is feeling now," Mamdani said.
