The National Weather Service has issued a severe thunderstorm watch for parts of Connecticut until 9 p.m.

Thunderstorms are on the way after a day of 90-degree heat and hazy sunshine.

The bulk of storms will move through from 6 p.m. to 11 p.m. Stay weather aware, as conditions can rapidly deteriorate as the storms develop tonight. When thunder roars - go indoors. Take any warnings seriously.

A cold front will sweep through tonight, dropping temperatures back into the 50s for tonight. Showers will linger for Thursday morning, but more are on the way for the weekend.

Rain chances will return starting Saturday. They will be on and off through Monday. Stay with News 12 Connecticut for more updates on the Memorial Day weekend.
