State police say a trooper was involved in a collision Sunday morning on the Southern State Parkway in Valley Stream.
Officials say troopers were responding around 6 a.m. to a one-car collision near Exit 14 that led to a DWI arrest.
A Jeep Wrangler slammed into the cruiser while a trooper sat inside a patrol car managing traffic around the crash.
Officials say the driver of the Jeep did not follow the state's Move Over Law.
"They are required to move over and if they can't move over, they are required to slow down to avoid any time of hazard for emergency workers," said New York State Police Capt. Vincent Augeri.
Police say the driver of the Jeep was not impaired.
Both the trooper and driver suffered minor injuries.
