A 15-year-old boy was slashed inside a high school in Mount Eden and a person of interest was taken into custody, authorities say.
Officers responded to William Tatt High School, located at 240 East 172nd St., just before 1 p.m. Monday.
The school was sent into a brief lockdown, according to teachers, while police searched for the suspect.
A source tells News 12 that the person arrested inside the school, which does scan for weapons, was wearing a monitoring bracelet from an alleged past crime.
The Department of Education issued the following statement:
"There is absolutely no place for weapons of any kind in our schools. The incident was quickly addressed by our school staff, who worked in lockstep with our partners from the NYPD/SSD. We will be providing additional support to the school community in the coming days."
Police say EMS took the teen to NYC Health +Hospitals/Harlem, where he is expected to recover.
