Garfield man tried to lure 2 children into his vehicle, prosecutor says

A Garfield man has been charged with allegedly attempting to lure two children into his vehicle in Wallington, authorities said.

Mark Jankowski, 43, was arrested and charged with two counts of luring, according to a statement Tuesday from the Bergen County Prosecutor.

The investigation began Friday, April 10, after the Wallington Police Department contacted the prosecutor's Special Victims Unit about the alleged incident, authorities said.

Investigators said Jankowski was in a vehicle at the intersection of Hayward Place and Locust Avenue in Wallington when he allegedly tried to lure the two children into the vehicle.

Jankowski was arrested in Wallington and jailed pending an appearance in Superior Court.
