Lawmakers, health officials and advocates gathered at Roberto Clemente Plaza on Friday to demand that the state take action to protect youths from unhealthy food products.

Participants want the NYS Legislature to pass a package of food policy reforms that would take aim at junk food marketed toward children.

One key feature of the legislation includes restrictions against misleading youth-targeted advertising.

Another would require warning labels listing added sugar and sodium content on restaurant menus.

Gov. Kathy Hochul has not yet indicated whether she would sign any of the food reform bills into law.
