A new study ranks New Jersey as the fourth best state in the nation for working moms.
The new WalletHub report states that in 2025, 74% of women with children younger than 18 were participating in the workforce. The study analyzed 17 key metrics including female unemployment rates, salaries and the quality of daycare options.
According to the analysis, New Jersey has an overall rank of fourth in the nation. For professional opportunities, the Garden State ranks fifth, while ranking seventh overall for work-life balance. When it comes to childcare, New Jersey dips a bit lower, ranking 10th in the nation.
According to WalletHub, although a high percentage of women with children work, they face a lot of challenges.
"On average, women earn only about 82% of what men make per hour," the study says. "These disparities raise not only financial concerns but also broader social questions about whether women are still expected to choose between building a career and raising a family."
