A 41-year-old woman is in the hospital after police said she was shot in the face in East New York.

It happened shortly after 4:30 a.m. at 696 Georgia Ave., which is located between Hegeman and New Lots avenues.

As of Wednesday afternoon, police told News 12 that it was still unclear if the shooting happened outside or inside of the house.

Police said officers arrived and found the victim bleeding from her head after she was shot in the face.

She was taken to Brookdale Hospital, where she was listed as stable.

While News 12 was on the scene, the NYPD blocked half of the block with crime tape, but there appeared to be no evidence markers on the ground. A News 12 crew did not see the NYPD go in and out of the building.

Police said it was unknown how the victim sustained the gunshot wound.

No arrests have been made.
