State lawmakers return to Albany on Monday to hammer out a budget agreement.

The negotiations will continue after last week's discrepancy over the state of a potential budget deal.

Gov. Kathy Hochul announced that a "general agreement" was in place on Thursday, but the leaders of the state Senate and state Assembly publicly disagreed and sent their members home.

The state budget is six weeks overdue; it was supposed to be approved by April 1.
