The MTA Investigator General's Office says a security agent hired by an MTA contractor was caught on camera using a stolen OMNY card to let riders through, in exchange for cash.
Investigators say she was hired by contractor Allied Security Services and assigned to the 8th Avenue N-line station in Sunset Park. They say she was caught on camera five different times in July of 2025. She appeared to exchange cash with riders and then let them in.
Officials say the card was a New York City Department of Education OMNY card.
The guard claimed to be using her own card. When she was told that the card was a student OMNY card, she claimed to have found it on the street. In the report, she also claims she wasn't trained before working.
"This guard will never work on MTA property again,” MTA Chief Security Officer Michael Kemper said in a statement. “Taking cash to illegally swipe riders into the subway is the exact conduct this person was assigned to prevent.”
According to the report, the contractor says they'll be doing a full review of their policies and procedures.
Investigators say the agent will likely be facing petit larceny charges.
