STORM WATCH: Severe thunderstorms could bring damaging winds, large hail, and flash flooding today

Heat and humidity will remain an issue for the next couple of days before a break over the weekend

A heat advisory is in effect from noon today through Friday 8 p.m.

Air Quality Alert from 11 a.m. through 11 p.m. for southern Fairfield, southern New Haven counties

FORECAST:

Today's heat and humidity bring the threat of scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms into Connecticut. An upper level disturbance Friday will combine with the heat and humidity to bring a greater threat of more widespread showers and thunderstorms.

The storm prediction center has set the risk of severe thunderstorms at level 2 on a scale from one to five. The airmass is expected to become less stable Friday and flash flooding is possible.

It's still expected to be hot over the weekend but it will be less humid.

Friday: Showers/t-storms - 91

Saturday: Sunny, not as humid - 89

Sunday: Slight chance shower, mainly PM - 90

Monday: 30% chance shower - 84

Tuesday: 30% chance shower - 81

Wednesday: Mostly sunny - 80

Thursday: Sun & clouds - 79
