It was a special day in Brooklyn on Tuesday, as reggae icon Shaggy made an appearance to celebrate the release of his new album.

Fans of Shaggy traveled from near and far to crowd around him in awe – as they took pictures, held conversations and listened to the latest sounds from his new album, "Lottery."

While he never stops repping his home Jamaica, his Brooklyn connections run deep, making the event all the more special.

“Brooklyn holds a strong place in my heart because this is really where I perfected my craft,” said Shaggy. “So it  feels really nostalgic in a way, coming back.”

To top it off, the Brooklyn Borough President has officially declared May 19 as "Shaggy Day" in Brooklyn.
