Man on the run after punching 72-year-old man in the face in Brownsville

Investigators say the man approached the 72-year-old and began punching him in the face multiple times

Police are searching for a man they say punched a 72-year-old man multiple times in the face in Brownsville.

The assault happened near a playground on Chester Street and Pitkin Avenue at around 12 p.m. on May 28th.

Investigators say the man approached the 72-year-old and began punching him in the face multiple times. The 72-year-old man fell onto the floor striking his head. The assailant then fled on foot heading southbound on Chester Street.

The 72-year-old man was transported by EMS to Brookdale Hospital for his injures and is expected to be OK.

Police say the man was last seen wearing black shorts, a black shirt, and black sneakers.
