New York City is preparing to honor the Knicks with their first ever ticker-tape parade in Manhattan following their NBA Championship win since 1973.

Mayor Zohran Mamdani is calling possibly the largest parade in New York City history scheduled for Thursday.

The Knicks clinched the title Saturday night with a 94–90 victory over the Spurs. Point guard Jalen Brunson led the way, setting a Knicks record for most points in a finals game.

The parade is scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. by Battery Park and head north along Broadway through Canyon of Heroes before ending at City Hall, where the Knicks will be delivered the keys to the city.

“New Yorkers have cheered for our team from packed living rooms in the Bronx to watch parties in Brooklyn, from bars in Queens to Staten Island to Manhattan, and Madison Square Garden itself. Now it’s time for our city to celebrate together. Bing bong," Mamdani said.

Mamdani also announced that City Hall and municipal buildings across the city will be lit in blue and orange on Thursday.

The city says this celebration will mark the first ticker-tape parade in Knicks history. Mayor Mamdani is encouraging parade goers to arrive at least two hours early for the festivities.

The Department of Transportation is creating more than two dozen orange and blue 'Champions Way' street signs that will line the parade route. Mayor Mamdani says they are set to be installed on Wednesday and will stay up for some time, although he did not specify for how long they will be on display.
