Police say one person is in custody after a 32-year-old woman was slashed multiple times throughout her body inside of a northbound six train Tuesday night.
Officers were called to the East 149th Street station at around 11:30 p.m. on Tuesday. There they found the victim with cuts on her left arm, chest and lower back.
The woman was taken to a local hospital, where’s she’s expected to recover.
A source tells News 12 a scalpel was recovered at the scene and was used to carry out the bloody attack. They also believe the incident stemmed from a prior dispute.
Police have one person in custody in connection to the attack. She is identified as 18-year-old Somerly Ynoa.
Police say she is charged with assault and criminal possession of a weapon.
The slashing comes as police data shows transit crime in the 41st precinct is up by 70% this year. At least 18 incidents have been reported this year, compared to 10 around the same time last year.
Investigators say the investigation is still ongoing.
