A late-night robbery at a Popeyes restaurant in Flatlands is causing concern among residents, with police now searching for multiple suspects.

According to police, the incident happened around 11 p.m. Wednesday at the restaurant.

Investigators say three people walked into the location and robbed it. At one point, one of the suspects jumped over the counter, pushed an 18-year-old employee and demanded that the cash register be opened. Authorities say approximately $1,200 was stolen.

Police have not confirmed whether the suspects were armed. However, people who work nearby say they believe a gun may have been involved.

The robbery has left neighbors shaken, with some expressing frustration over the violence.

“If I had a good opportunity to pick up a chair and knock one of them down, I would do it,” said Flatlands resident Norris Jerome. “I can’t imagine somebody just robbing me and taking money that I worked hard for.”

Others say the risks simply aren’t worth it.

“It’s not worth it—trying to rob, steal, go to jail. It’s not worth it,” said Brianna, who also lives in the area.

News 12 visited the restaurant to speak with the 18-year-old employee involved, but was told they were not working at the time.

No injuries have been reported.
