A Bridgeport man who is mourning a friend who was killed in the back-to-back earthquakes in Venezuela is volunteering in a relief effort to help survivors.

Rodney Davis is originally from Caracas, Venezuela. He and other proud Venezuelan Americans who have loved ones impacted by the disaster, gathered at Mosaico Restaurant in North Haven Saturday to pack medical supplies, clothing and canned food for the victims.

Among the dead, Rodney's says, was a good friend of his, Melanie Barrios.

Davis said he is working in partnership with nonprofits Resistencia Médica and AsovenCT.

Davis encourages anybody who can help with emergency supplies to bring them to Mosaico Restaurant at 53 Quinnipiac Ave. in North Haven. They will be packed and brought to Venezuela.

Those who wish to call ahead can dial 475-300-3261 or 203-850-2946, or by visiting Davis' Instagram page.
