Man dead after being punched in the face in East New York

Police were informed that the victim had been punched in the face and fell to the ground.

A 52-year-old man was punched in the face and has died of his injuries late Thursday night in East New York.

Police responded to a call of an assault at Pitkin Avenue and Van Siclen Avenue just before 8:20 p.m.

When police arrived, they found the 52-year-old man unconscious and unresponsive. Police were informed that the victim had been punched in the face and fell to the ground.

EMS transported the man to Brookdale Hospital where he was pronounced deceased.

Police have identified Kemal Karakatal as the victim.

Police sources say they are looking for a man wearing a white tank top, white shorts, white socks and black Crocs.

There are no arrests and the investigation is ongoing.
