Police say an arrest has been made in connection to a fatal shooting inside a laundromat in Flatlands.

Adolphus Black was taken into custody Tuesday and charged with murder. He is accused of carrying out a shooting on Memorial Day morning inside Xpress Laundromat. The shooting killed Kevon Lee, 41, and injured a second man.

The terrifying scene unfolded inside 1809 Utica Ave. around 8 a.m., sending customers scrambling for cover.

“I was washing my clothes and then the shots start coming,” customer Philip Denaud said. “It was about five to six shots. Then we hit the floor and went into the bathroom and locked the door.”

Officers found Lee with multiple gunshot wounds throughout his body. Paramedics rushed him to NYC Health + Hospitals/Kings County, where he died.

Police sources tell News 12 that Black was targeting Lee. They say he suffered gunshot wounds to the chest and stomach.

The second victim, a 68-year-old man, was also hospitalized after the shooting, according to the NYPD. He was hit by shrapnel in the foot and is expected to recover.

News 12 spoke with Lee's wife, who is a nurse and wanted to remain anonymous for safety reasons. She says she was standing next to him when he was shot and tried to save his life.

“I raised up his shirt, about to do CPR and compressions, but his eyes were already gray," she said.

Black, 57, of Brownsville, faces additional charges, including criminal possession of a weapon.
