Police are asking for the public’s help identifying a man after a 44-year-old was stabbed inside a Brownsville subway station Wednesday night.

The attack happened around 9:15 p.m. at the Sutter Avenue-Rutland Road station.

Police say the 44-year-old man was walking on a staircase when another man came up to him, pulled out a sharp object and stabbed him in the back.

The injured man was taken to Brookdale Hospital. He is stable.

The man police are looking for ran away after the attack.

Police have now released images showing the man standing outside with a backpack in front of him. He was last seen wearing a light gray shirt, jeans and work boots.

Anyone who recognizes the man in the images or has information about what happened is asked to contact Crime Stoppers.
