Some young patients at Maimonides Hospital got a surprise visit from some unlikely heroes.
Window washers traded their usual gear for superhero costumes, rappelling down the side of the hospital building to bring smiles to children receiving care in the pediatric units.
Hospital staff worked with the environmental services team to turn a routine window washing into a special moment for patients and their families.
After their superhero entrance, the team joined patients inside the hospital, posing for photos and shaking hands.
“Being in the hospital is hard,” said Alexis Ellis, director of Maimonides Hospital’s Patient Family Support team. “This really changes the mood of the day. You get a little more excitement and a little less of the sadness of being here for a long period of time.”
Families said the visit brought some much-needed joy during a difficult time.
And based on the smiles inside the hospital, these superheroes completed their mission.
